 This is the first larger piece (20x20 inches), after racing through the many small color studies. I wasn't really happy with it so I set it aside. Unfortunately it didn't get much better after this.

Everything was just getting worse as the next one I felt the freshness of the small color studies are not being translated. The next picture is purely falling back into old habits.  Stiff, over painted and going nowhere. The last was starting to fall into the same category, but I decided to stop before I just went to far. The next is up on the easel now. Hopefully I can bring some of the freshness of new color combos. The light is different in the mountains. I need to find a groove if I'm to paint more of these scenes. As I sit and contemplate this last picture I need to put some green in the water... it is too blue. Off I go.
